Bit of an odd one but good if you want a narrower fit
These are a bit smaller and narrower around the forefoot than other Merrells I've tried in a size 8. The way the lacing extends right up to the toe of the shoe meant when walking the sides framing the tongue were gaping with each step in the toe area. Essentially the lacing was acting as part of the support system for the shoe and when under strain was stretching. I thought this was a bit odd and didn't bode well for the longevity of the shoe. Other than that I really liked them, they were quite supportive elsewhere and looked smart on. The soles were well made and comfortable. If you're a small size 8 they're certainly worth a go, as I imagine the problem with gaping is exacerbated by a wider foot.
