Good boots

Good, & comfortable after a while...
My wife and I both took new pairs of these to the lakeland fells to break them in for the Alps. They seem stiffer in the sole than my previous B2 boots, but there is more 'give' in the ankle.
We both found them very hard going for our initial half-mile of road, and soon discovered during the course of 10 miles over the fells that there is a real knack to the three zone lacing; firstly - don't do the first zone up as tightly as other boots - you are just using that extra tightness to crush the inner layer, which seems to be memory foam. The first zone needs to be just tight enough to grip the foot. The midzone needs to be just tight enough to hold the foot back into the heel cup, then the top zone needs to be firm. I have discovered for me that after reaching the top hooks, it is worth going back down and tying off on the next hooks down.
