The Perfect Hybrid Road and Trail Shoe?
Sometimes you have to be careful about brand snobery. Hi Tec may not have the same reputation as other brands in the running shoe market, but with this particular shoe they have a winner.
I live in the country and belong to a running club that loves to get "off road", so the routes I run seem to always involve a mixture of road, paths and trails. These shoes are perfect for this combination. They provide plenty of cushioning for the tarmac combined with lots of grip for the mud and the grass. They are very light and have plenty of room in the toe box thus avoiding the black toenail syndrome from steep decents.
OK, I would take gripper shoes to a full blooded fell race and I wouldn't run a road half in them but I'm so pleased with this shoe that I quickly ordered a second pair, and I'm seriously thinking about a third. At this price I'd be a fool not to!

Not for wide feet
They look good but thats about it for me. In an attempt to just walk them in they were ripping up my my feet. I havent been able to run in them sadly. Its not all the shoes fault - I do have wide feet. Plus I expect to put a pair of trainers on and have a level of comfort that gives me confidence I can run in them. I've now given up on them. Not for the serious runner.
