good shoes for off road running BUT buy a size larger as the pair i got from millets was size 11 uk but didn't fit. i changed them for 12's and they are great. i think this has something to do with usa/eu sizing. one run broke them in!

Onto my third pair of XT Wings now . Can,t tell the difference of the XTWings 2. This is a full on trail shoe with good cushioning underfoot. The grip works on stone ,grit ,grass wet rock and is surprisingly good on ice. I bought my latest pair specifically to do The Spine Race (278miles of the pennine way in 7 days in January) . The shoes arrived the day before the race so no wearing in but straight into the 45mile first leg . 7days later as one of the few finishers I had no blisters despite running 20 +hr days in wet shoes!
The only gripe I have , and this applies to most Solomon shoes is that if you run in the wet and are continually having to dry the shoes (typical UK Trail Running) then the uppers tend to break up just behind the toe box.
The quick lace system works fine but you must take care to tuck the loop into its pouch. If you don,t the laces will shred and if you catch the loose loop while running ,YOU WILL FACEPLANT!
